This selection of pet portraits have been mostly completed using pastels on velour. Pastels are an ideal medium to use to represent animal fur. The velour holds the pastel without the need to spray on a fixative. I’ve found that fixatives often alter the colour of the portrait.
Nearly all of these portraits are commissions – sometimes of pets that have now departed. The portraits are of great comfort to their owners.
